Arctic Mosquitoes
Yes, they visit up north every summer. Due to the cool water in the Great Slave Lake and the Mackenzie River, we hopefully will not encounter them too often while underway. We will however meet them on shore visits. Please carry a bug jacket and/or your favorite brand of repellent.

Weather and Suggested Dress
We encourage you to dress very casually and comfortably, paying particular attention to non slip footwear. As you will be on and off the vessel into smaller boats and walking on shore this dictates that dress should be comfortable and sensible (not high fashion).

The temperature will range from 40 degrees F to 85 degrees F, and remember this time of year we may have at least 20 hours of daylight. Rain may be encountered but usually of a limited nature. We also suggest long sleeves and pants to further discourage insects.

This is the Land of the Midnight Sun, so make sure to bring along an extra pair of sunglasses and a sun lotion with SPF protection.

Please remember to bring an extended supply of prescription drugs as they may not be available on short notice among many of the more isolated communities. Plan ahead!
